A Hollywood smile means covering the front teeth with thin porcelain or zirconia shells at Smile Makers in Jeddah. The dentist sets the number of teeth and the material after checking the gums and the bite. The result is different for each person.
What is a Hollywood smile?
A Hollywood smile is a set of thin shells over the teeth that show when you smile. Porcelain and zirconia are the materials people ask about. The point is to change color and shape together, and sometimes to close a small space between two teeth.
A filling repairs decay. A crown wraps a tooth that is broken or has had a root canal. A shell sits on the visible face of a front tooth. Four teeth, eight, or more: the number comes from how wide your smile is and which teeth show when you talk. It does not come from a package name.
At Smile Makers in Jeddah the first step is an exam. Swollen gums, or a bite that hits on one point, mean the shells wait. A shell on inflamed gum can look fine for a week. Then a red edge shows, and a whiter shade does not hide it.
People ask about a Hollywood smile in Jeddah before a wedding, after years of tea and coffee, or because front fillings photograph as dark outlines. The reason changes the plan. Closing a gap is a different job from covering a dark tooth after a root canal.
Who is it for?
It suits someone who has tried whitening, or understands its limit, and still dislikes the color of the front teeth. Whitening lifts enamel a few shades. It does not rebuild a chipped edge, close a gap, or make an old filling match the tooth beside it.
A chipped corner can be a candidate when the nerve is quiet and the root is sound. So can a front tooth full of fillings that no longer look tidy. A shell can be cleaner than another filling on top of an old one. That is possible, not automatic. The dentist checks how much enamel is left before suggesting any shaping.
A small gap between the two front teeth can be narrowed with a shell. A wide gap, or a tooth that sits far inside the arch, may need orthodontics first. Moving the tooth, then using one shell, can be gentler on enamel than drilling a healthy tooth to span a large space. That discussion happens in the chair, with photos, not from a WhatsApp picture alone.
It is a poor fit if you arrive with an actor's shade in mind. The color is chosen against your skin, under clinic light, then worn in Jeddah sun and at home. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk, even if a close-up photo pleased you.
The plan also waits if there is obvious decay, night pain, or grinding. Grinding does not rule shells out for every person. A night guard may be needed so the edges do not chip. Whether a guard is part of your plan is said in the visit, when it applies.
What happens before any enamel is shaped?
At the consultation we count the teeth that show, look at the gums, and take x-rays if the nerve or the root length is in doubt. A phone photo helps the conversation. It does not replace the chair. The lip covers part of the tooth when you speak and shows more of it when you laugh.
We then agree on the number of shells and the direction of the shade. Some clinics preview a design on a screen. Some use wax. What we commit to here is that you understand the direction before enamel is shaped. A screen image is not the result you will live with.
If shaping is needed, a layer of enamel is removed so the shell has thickness and does not push the lip. A tooth that sticks out may need more shaping. A tooth that sits back may need less, or a little tooth-colored resin before the ceramic. "No drilling" is not the description of this page. It is a question we answer tooth by tooth.
If a tooth is shaped, a temporary cover may stay on until the shells return from the lab. It protects the tooth and holds a rough shape. Do not bite hard bread with it. If it comes off, call us. Do not glue a pharmacy product onto bare enamel.
Porcelain or zirconia?
Porcelain lets light through in a way close to enamel, so it is often chosen for the upper front teeth. Zirconia is tougher. It helps when the tooth underneath is dark, from an old metal filling or a root-treated tooth, or when the bite is heavy on the canine.
Both are ceramics made outside the mouth and then bonded. What you notice later may be translucency, not the word "strength" from an ad. A zirconia canine and porcelain incisors is a combination some plans use. Whether we use it depends on your shade and your bite, and it is written in your plan.
The lab name, the shell thickness, and the bonding material are not fixed on a public page.
Before final bonding we seat the shells without permanent cement. Look in the mirror while you talk, not only while you smile. If an edge feels odd against the lip, say so before the cement sets. A small adjustment then is simpler than cutting the ceramic two days later.
How long can the shells last?
A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gum around it stays quiet. There is no single lifespan we can put on every mouth. Ice, tearing packets with teeth, and grinding shorten it. Coming in when a corner chips is simpler than leaving a stain to creep under the ceramic.
If the clinic offers a written warranty, it has conditions, including checkups and not using the tooth as a tool. The number of years is not stated here.
The ceramic itself does not drink tea the way enamel does. Edges can stain if tartar builds up, or if a margin of cement opens. Regular cleaning is part of keeping the look. Between visits, floss matters more than an expensive toothpaste.
If a whole shell comes off, keep it in a box and clean the tooth gently. It can sometimes be bonded again if it did not crack and the tooth did not decay. Sometimes a new one is made. We do not promise rebonding every time.
What can I eat afterward?
For a few days the teeth may feel cold, or longer. That eases for most people. A throbbing pain in one tooth, or a swollen gum, is not something to cover with a painkiller and ignore. Message the clinic and name the tooth.
Speech can feel different for a day or two if the shell is thicker than your tongue expects. Tell us if a lisp stays. We may polish a contact point. That is not a new plan.
You can eat the same day once any numbness has gone. Start with something soft. Ice, bone, metal bottle caps, and nuts belong on the back teeth. Coffee and tea do not stain ceramic easily. They do stain around the edge. Smoking stains that edge faster in the first weeks.
If you are already stopping smoking, the new edge benefits. That is a description of stain, not a clause in a contract.
What changes the cost?
The price of a Hollywood smile is not on this page. A price, if there is an offer, lives on the offers page only. The fee changes with the number of teeth, the ceramic, gum or nerve treatment before shaping, and a temporary if one is needed.
In the chair, ask what the figure includes, and what is billed alone if one tooth needs a root canal in the middle of the plan. That is clearer than asking for a full price before anyone has seen you. Two photos in an ad are not a quote.
Can I pay with Tabby?
You can ask to split the plan with Tabby. Approval is not the clinic's decision. Tabby reviews the application and may approve it, approve part of it, or decline it. Instalments do not change the number of shells or the ceramic.
If the application is declined, you and reception agree how to pay, or you delay the cosmetic part when there is no pain. A needed root canal or extraction is not delayed because instalments were declined.
What about the gums and the smile line?
The shell edge sits near the gum. Thin or uneven gums can show a dark line over the years, or trap food under the margin. Some plans include a small gum adjustment before shaping, so the levels sit more evenly. That is its own procedure, with a little swelling, and it is not the same appointment as bonding the shells.
We do not promise a millimeter match between the two sides of the face. Faces are not molds. We look for a calm gum line when you smile, and an edge that does not collect a brown line after a month of tea.
A hard brush and a scrubbing motion hurt the gum around ceramic the same way they hurt enamel. Use a soft brush, short strokes, and floss that passes under the contact. If the gum bleeds for a few days after fitting and then settles, watch it. If bleeding lasts a week, we want to see it.
How is this different from a single veneer?
One veneer is for a chipped or dark tooth sitting beside neighbors of a similar color. A Hollywood smile treats the front teeth as a group, so one tooth does not turn white while the others stay coffee-colored. Fewer teeth are enough when your canines do not show.
If the names are confusing, the veneer page and the lumineers page spell out the difference. The decision is made in the chair. Enamel thickness, the color inside the tooth, and how much tooth shows are three facts a service name cannot answer.
Book with your name, mobile number, and the service. You do not pick a clock time on the site. Reception calls during opening hours. The clinic WhatsApp is 055 117 0327. Bring a written question if you like: how many teeth, what happens to the enamel, and what a chipped corner means a year later.

Questions
A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gums stay calm. There is no single lifespan for every mouth. Ice, grinding, and using teeth as tools can shorten it. Come back if a corner chips.
Sometimes a thin layer of enamel is removed so the shell does not stick out. Some teeth need little or none. The dentist decides tooth by tooth after seeing the enamel and the bite. A no-prep line is not a promise for every mouth.
A veneer is a shell on one tooth or a few. A Hollywood smile usually means the front teeth that show together, so one tooth does not turn lighter than its neighbors. The exam sets the number, not the service name.
The shade is compared with your skin under clinic light, then checked in daylight when that is possible. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk. You see the shells at the try-in before permanent bonding.
