After cleaning
Sensitivity for a day or two can happen, then ease

Dental cleaning at Smile Makers in Jeddah removes tartar and surface stain from around the tooth and from just under the gum edge. Cleaning does not weaken enamel. Sensitivity for a day or two can happen, and it depends on how much tartar was there and on the gums.

A dental cleaning removes hardened tartar and stain stuck on the tooth, above the gumline and just under it when the tartar is close. At Smile Makers in Jeddah we start by looking at the gums and at the places tartar collects. The usual spot is behind the lower front teeth, where the tongue feels a rough edge.
People search for dental cleaning in Jeddah for that reason. Tartar removal is the same request for many of them. The brush no longer glides, or the gums bleed when they bite an apple or when they floss.
Tartar does not come off with toothpaste. It is plaque that has calcified. It comes off with clinic instruments.
Polishing takes off the surface stain after the tartar is gone. That is a different job from whitening, which lightens enamel with a gel. It is a different job from a filling, which closes a cavity.
If there is decay, it needs its own visit. Cleaning does not close it.
Cleaning does not weaken enamel. The question arrives often: does tartar removal scrape away a layer of the tooth? The aim is to lift tartar that has stuck, and to leave sound enamel where it is.
The vibration separates tartar from the tooth. A hand instrument reaches stubborn deposits. Neither one is a drill for cutting enamel.
The roughness the tongue feels behind the lower teeth is tartar that hardened from plaque left on the tooth for days, and removing it uncovers the surface without grinding away a sound layer of enamel. The tooth can feel longer. A small space can appear where tartar had been filling the gap, or where a swollen gum has settled.
That is something hidden coming into view. If the roughness stays, or a tooth throbs, we want to see you. We do not reassure a clearly loose tooth from a web page. Movement is measured in the chair.
Some visitors fear that cleaning again and again thins the tooth. Removing tartar again is not a plan to grind enamel. What harms the bone around a tooth is inflammation left alone for a long time. A review helps when plaque returns, on a date we set after we have seen your mouth.
It suits roughness behind the lower teeth and gums that bleed when you brush. Tea, coffee, and smoke stain on the surface fit the same visit. It also suits someone whose whitening visit is close, so the gel reaches enamel that is clear of tartar.
Swelling of the face or an abscess needs an assessment before any polish. That is a treatment visit, not a visit to smooth the surface. A whiter enamel shade is not what tartar removal produces. Lightening is a different material, and it has its own page.
A child may need only a simpler clean when what sits on the tooth is still soft plaque. The details for a young child are on the children's dentistry page. If you are pregnant, cleaning can go ahead when things are stable. Tell the dentist the month and the medicines you take.
We examine the gums, look at where the tartar sits, and measure pocket depth if the gums are swollen or bleeding. The measurement separates a cleaning above the edge from a need for gum treatment. We do not mix the two names before we have measured.
Tartar then comes off with a vibrating instrument and with hand instruments. Under the gum edge we follow what the exam shows, and we do not treat every tooth the same way. Local anesthetic is used if the touch hurts. Many visits happen without an injection.
Polish follows, to lift surface stain. Blood can appear while we work on gums that were inflamed. That happens in this situation, and it settles if the inflammation settles with gentle brushing. Swelling after the visit, or bleeding that does not stop at home, is a message to us the same day.
The length of a dental cleaning at the clinic is not written here as a number. How much tartar there is, how sensitive the gums are, and whether the work should be split all change the time you sit in the chair.
Do not arrive holding a duration you heard in an ad. A quiet mouth is a different visit from a mouth where tartar has covered the tongue side. We say an approximate time after we have seen the teeth.
One visit is enough when the tartar is above the gum and the inflammation is limited. If the tartar has gone deep or the amount is large, we may split the work over two visits so the gums are not pushed through in a single day. You hear that after the exam.
A routine recall is not fixed on this page. Publications talk about a regular review so plaque does not harden again. The interval the clinic uses for you is said after the visit.
Sensitivity for a day or two can happen, especially to cold, if a surface that tartar was covering is now bare. That eases for most people. If sensitivity stays past those two days, or the pain becomes a throb, message us and name the tooth.
Do not scrub the area with a hard brush to hurry the adjustment. A hard brush increases root exposure over time. Use a soft brush, short strokes, and lukewarm water on the first day if cold bothers you.
A tooth can feel loose after heavy tartar comes off. Sometimes the tongue is meeting a surface that was covered. Sometimes the movement was already there and the inflammation was hiding it.
Clear movement is measured here. We do not write from this page that it goes away on its own every time.
Cleaning removes tartar and stuck stain. Whitening lightens the enamel shade with a gel, and it does not remove hardened tartar. Cleaning may come before whitening when the surface is rough.
The color of fillings and crowns stays. Cleaning does not lighten them. Whitening does not lighten them.
Gum treatment starts when the pocket is deep and the inflammation under the edge is wider than a polishing visit. We may move the plan to gum treatment after the measurement. Children's dentistry is the right page when the tooth is primary, or when fear of the clinic is the parent's first question.
Mixing the names wastes the appointment. If you book a cleaning and you want a lighter shade for an event, tell reception so the request is understood. If you book whitening and the tartar is thick, we may start with cleaning and delay the gel until the gums are calm.
Brushing twice a day, and flossing once, matters more than an expensive toothpaste. Tartar starts from plaque left for days, especially behind the lower teeth. Pass the brush there while you look in the mirror. Do not stop at the teeth that show in a photo.
If a spot of blood appears in the first days of flossing after the visit, continue gently. Stopping the floss brings the inflammation back. Mouthwash does not replace floss. If floss cannot pass between crowded teeth, ask us about a small brush between them.
Smoking, shisha, and long coffees bring surface stain back onto a tooth that was cleaned. That does not cancel the point of the visit. It explains why surface color returns faster for some people. A toothpaste labeled as whitening does not stop tartar from forming.
The price is not on this page. An offer, if there is one, lives on the offers page only. What changes the fee is the amount of tartar, splitting the work over two visits, anesthetic if it is needed, and gum treatment if the exam turns that way. A calm surface cleaning is a different effort from a visit for deep pockets.
Ask what the figure includes before you compare two ads. A phone photo does not price tartar under the gum. A filling, if decay shows, is billed on its own because it is a different treatment.
A child's visit, if it belongs on the children's page, may differ in approach. We do not price it from this page. Gum treatment, if a pocket is deep, is explained before it is added to the fee.
Dental cleaning on this page is not listed for Tabby instalments. Payment is agreed with reception. If your plan includes aligners or shells, you can ask about Tabby for that plan. Approval comes from Tabby.
We do not write figures here. If you want to know what the visit includes before you come, ask reception on the call. An offer, if there is one, lives on the offers page only.
Book with your name, mobile number, and dental cleaning. You do not pick a clock time on the site. Reception calls during opening hours.
The clinic WhatsApp is 055 117 0327. Write if the gums are bleeding, or if there is swelling, so we can tell a cleaning from a visit that needs a faster look.

We look at the tartar and the gums, and measure the pocket if there is bleeding or swelling.
02
We remove tartar with a vibrating instrument and with hand instruments where needed.
03
We follow tartar just under the edge according to what the exam shows.
04
We polish surface stain after the tartar is gone.

We review brushing and flossing, and the return visit is set after we have seen the mouth.
A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gums stay calm. There is no single lifespan for every mouth. Ice, grinding, and using teeth as tools can shorten it. Come back if a corner chips.
Sometimes a thin layer of enamel is removed so the shell does not stick out. Some teeth need little or none. The dentist decides tooth by tooth after seeing the enamel and the bite. A no-prep line is not a promise for every mouth.
A veneer is a shell on one tooth or a few. A Hollywood smile usually means the front teeth that show together, so one tooth does not turn lighter than its neighbors. The exam sets the number, not the service name.
The shade is compared with your skin under clinic light, then checked in daylight when that is possible. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk. You see the shells at the try-in before permanent bonding.
