Tooth extraction
Treatment

Tooth extraction removes a tooth that a filling or a root canal cannot usefully keep, or a buried tooth that irritates the gum. At Smile Makers in Jeddah it is done after an x-ray and local anesthetic. You leave biting on gauze, you avoid smoking and straws, and you call if the bleeding continues.

What is a tooth extraction?

Tooth extraction takes a tooth out of its place. We come to it when a filling or a root canal cannot put it back to work. We also come to it when a tooth is buried or broken and irritates the gum. At Smile Makers in Jeddah the extraction follows an x-ray.

The anesthetic described here is local.

This page does not describe an operating room. We do not name a sedation drug or a company that makes one. If you need something other than local anesthetic, that is said at the visit. It is not invented here.

When is extraction suggested?

It is suggested when the crown of the tooth has collapsed under the gum and no walls remain to fill or cover. It is suggested when a root stays inflamed and cannot be cleaned. It is suggested when a tooth swells the gum again and again, after the x-ray shows its position.

If a filling or a root canal would keep the tooth useful, we explain that before removal. We do not remove a tooth because that visit is sooner than a root canal visit. The fillings page and the root canal page spell out the difference. The gap after extraction may be discussed with an implant later, if the bone is suitable.

What about gauze, smoking, and straws?

After the extraction you bite on gauze. Keep it for as long as the dentist says before you leave. Pressure helps the clot settle. Do not rinse hard in the first hours.

Do not spit every minute. Suction and spitting pull the clot out of the socket.

Do not smoke on the day of the extraction. Smoke disturbs the clot. Do not use a straw. Do not suck juice from the cup.

Suction acts like a straw even without one.

The next day you can rinse gently with warm water and a little salt. The first day is for pressure, not for a strong wash. Start with soft food on the other side. If a painkiller was prescribed, take it as written.

We do not put a drug dose on a public page.

When do you call if bleeding continues?

Change the gauze when it soaks through, and keep biting quietly. If the bleeding soaks one gauze and then the next and does not ease, call the clinic. Do not rinse over and over in the hope of cleaning the socket. Hard rinsing can increase bleeding.

If the pain eases and then comes back stronger after two or three days, call. The clot may have been lost. That is a reason for us to see you. Do not write yourself a diagnosis from the internet.

Fever, swelling that spreads in the cheek, or trouble swallowing is a reason to call sooner.

What about a surgical extraction?

Some teeth come out with a simple lift after the anesthetic. Some need a small opening in the gum, or the tooth divided into parts. That is called a surgical extraction. Is it done at this clinic?

We do not state that on the page. If your tooth is buried, ask before you assume the place.

We do not promise one pattern of soreness after a surgical extraction. Swelling may be more obvious than after a simple removal. The gauze, smoking, and straw instructions stay the same, unless the dentist says otherwise in your chair.

What changes the cost?

The price of an extraction is not on this page. An offer, if there is one, lives on the offers page only. The fee changes if the tooth lifts simply or needs to be divided, with the x-ray, and with any gum care or implant discussed later on its own.

Ask what the figure includes. Do not assume a surgical extraction costs the same as a simple one before anyone has seen you.

Can an extraction be paid with Tabby?

This service is not listed for Tabby instalments on the site. If you ask about another listed service, Tabby decides the application. How you pay for the extraction is agreed with reception. Bleeding or swelling is not delayed until payment is settled.

Book with your name, mobile number, and tooth extraction. You do not pick a clock time on the site. Reception calls during opening hours. The clinic WhatsApp is 055 117 0327.

Mention if you take a medicine that thins the blood, so the dentist can ask you before the visit.

Questions

A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gums stay calm. There is no single lifespan for every mouth. Ice, grinding, and using teeth as tools can shorten it. Come back if a corner chips.

Sometimes a thin layer of enamel is removed so the shell does not stick out. Some teeth need little or none. The dentist decides tooth by tooth after seeing the enamel and the bite. A no-prep line is not a promise for every mouth.

A veneer is a shell on one tooth or a few. A Hollywood smile usually means the front teeth that show together, so one tooth does not turn lighter than its neighbors. The exam sets the number, not the service name.

The shade is compared with your skin under clinic light, then checked in daylight when that is possible. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk. You see the shells at the try-in before permanent bonding.
