After the filling
Cold sensitivity may last a few days, then ease for most people

A tooth-colored filling replaces the part decay removed when the nerve is still calm. At Smile Makers in Jeddah root canal treatment is discussed if decay has reached the pulp. The walls that remain carry the bite, and the result differs from person to person.

A tooth-colored filling is material placed where decay was removed. The shade is close to the tooth. It is different from a crown that wraps the tooth. It is different from a root canal, which empties the canals of pulp.
At Smile Makers in Jeddah it is used when the nerve is calm and the walls that remain can carry the bite.
The trade name of the material is not written here.
A filling is enough when decay is still in enamel or dentin. The second condition is that pain does not wake you at night. At the visit we remove the decay and close the space. If decay has reached the pulp, a filling on top of inflamed pulp does not settle the tooth.
If pain starts on its own, the picture is the same. A root canal is discussed then. That page explains removing the pulp.
A small chip on the edge of a front tooth may be closed with a filling if the nerve is calm. A break that leaves a thin wall may need a crown. A phone photo helps us understand the question. It does not replace looking and testing in the chair.
This question comes up often. The filling closes the space decay left. On its own, the material is not described as something that weakens the tooth. Weakness shows when decay was wide and the walls left are thin.
Those walls are what hit when you eat. A crown may be mentioned if the tooth is closer to a shell. The reason is what remains of the tooth. The color of the filling does not change that fact.
An old metal filling is not removed because it looks different in a photo. We replace it if decay gets under the edge, if a piece breaks, or if the complaint is the tooth itself. The decision follows an exam, not a color comparison in an ad.
If the area needs numbing, we use a local anesthetic. We do not name the anesthetic on the page. We remove decay until we reach sounder tooth, then place the filling in layers. After that we ask you to close.
We adjust any point that hits before the neighbors.
You may feel cold for a few days. For most people that eases. If the tooth still feels high, call. A high point makes the nerve complain with every bite.
Adjusting it in the chair is a short visit. Pain that increases at night after the filling is also a reason to call. The nerve may be closer than it looked.
Wait until the lip numbness fades before you eat. The cheek and tongue are easy to bite while you are numb. A soft brush on the edge, and floss once a day, keep the filling cleaner. Frequent sugar between meals brings decay back at the border.
Water between meals is gentler than sipping juice all day.
Tartar removal has its own page. Tartar at the edge of a new filling opens a path for leakage. If the gums bleed, start with that. Do not blame the filling first.
The price of a filling is not on this page. An offer, if there is one, lives on the offers page only. The fee changes with the number of surfaces, with how close decay is to the nerve, and with a move to a root canal or a crown if one is needed.
Ask what the figure includes if you need an x-ray or a second filling on the next tooth. Prices are not listed here.
This service is not listed for Tabby instalments on the site. If you ask about instalments for another service that is listed, Tabby decides the application. How you pay for the filling is agreed with reception when you book.
Book with your name, mobile number, and tooth-colored fillings. You do not pick a clock time on the site. Reception calls during opening hours. The clinic WhatsApp is 055 117 0327.
Write whether the pain wakes you at night, so a filling and a root canal are not mixed up before the visit.

01
We look at the decay, ask about night pain, and take an x-ray if decay is close to the nerve.
02
We numb the area if needed, then remove decay until sound tooth is left.
03
We place tooth-colored material in layers and shape the bite.
04
Call if the tooth still feels high, or if a throb continues after a few days.
A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gums stay calm. There is no single lifespan for every mouth. Ice, grinding, and using teeth as tools can shorten it. Come back if a corner chips.
Sometimes a thin layer of enamel is removed so the shell does not stick out. Some teeth need little or none. The dentist decides tooth by tooth after seeing the enamel and the bite. A no-prep line is not a promise for every mouth.
A veneer is a shell on one tooth or a few. A Hollywood smile usually means the front teeth that show together, so one tooth does not turn lighter than its neighbors. The exam sets the number, not the service name.
The shade is compared with your skin under clinic light, then checked in daylight when that is possible. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk. You see the shells at the try-in before permanent bonding.
