Root canal treatment
Treatment

Root canal treatment removes inflamed pulp from inside the tooth, cleans the canals, and seals them. At Smile Makers in Jeddah it is planned when pain keeps returning or decay has reached the nerve. Soreness after the visit can happen and settles for most people, and a crown may be discussed later.

What is root canal treatment?

Root canal treatment removes inflamed pulp from inside the tooth. Pulp is tissue with nerves and fine blood vessels. If it is inflamed, or it has died, we open the tooth and clean the canals. Then we seal them with a material that closes the space so leakage does not return.

The aim is to keep the tooth in the mouth, not to leave a gap.

At Smile Makers in Jeddah the decision follows an exam and x-rays. A description of the pain in a message helps us arrange the visit. It does not replace a picture of the root. Root length, and a swelling on the gum, change the plan.

When is it suggested?

It is suggested when pain wakes you, or when pain stays after the cold of water fades. It is suggested when the x-ray or the exam shows that decay has reached the pulp. A small swelling on the gum near the root can come from the pulp itself. A filling on top of that pulp does not fix the space.

Sometimes the tooth is quiet and a dead pulp shows on the x-ray. Silence does not cancel treatment if the root is a source of inflammation. The fillings page explains when a filling is enough. The difference is settled here by the exam, not by guessing.

What about pain afterward?

We use local anesthetic during the work. You may feel pressure while you are numb. We do not describe the visit as having no feeling. After the anesthetic fades, the tooth can ache when you bite.

That can happen. For most people it settles over a few days.

Call the same day if the pain increases, if the cheek swells, or if a swelling appears under the tongue. Do not wait that out on a painkiller alone. Fever with facial swelling is a reason to call promptly.

Is a crown needed afterward?

After the pulp is removed the tooth is drier. It can break if you chew hard and the walls are thin. A crown may be discussed for that reason, especially on molars that grind. A front tooth with thick walls may be closed with a filling.

The fixed crowns and bridges page explains crowns and bridges.

Does the clinic place a crown after every root canal? We do not write that as a rule.

Until the cover is decided, keep bone and nuts off this tooth. Between visits a temporary filling may be placed. Do not chew hard on it. If it comes off, call before food gets into the canal.

What happens at the visit?

We start with an x-ray, isolate the tooth if needed, then clean and seal the canals. That may be one visit. It may take more. The number is not a public figure.

It is in your file after the canals are seen.

We do not name instruments in a general text. What matters to you is that the canal was cleaned and sealed, and that you know what to do if the temporary comes off.

What changes the cost?

The price of a root canal is not on this page. An offer, if there is one, lives on the offers page only. The fee changes with the number of canals, with retreatment of an old one that failed, and with a crown if it is separate from the root canal.

Ask what the figure includes. Ask whether the x-ray and the temporary filling are inside it. A front tooth with one canal is not a molar with curved canals. The image shows that.

Guessing does not.

Can a root canal be paid with Tabby?

This service is not listed for Tabby instalments on the site. If you ask about another listed service, Tabby decides the application. How you pay for the root canal is agreed with reception. Pain is not delayed because payment is still being arranged.

Call if the face is swelling.

Book with your name, mobile number, and root canal treatment. You do not pick a clock time on the site. Reception calls during opening hours. The clinic WhatsApp is 055 117 0327.

Write which tooth hurts, and whether the pain is at night, so the visit can be arranged.

Questions

A shell can last for years if the edge stays sealed and the gums stay calm. There is no single lifespan for every mouth. Ice, grinding, and using teeth as tools can shorten it. Come back if a corner chips.

Sometimes a thin layer of enamel is removed so the shell does not stick out. Some teeth need little or none. The dentist decides tooth by tooth after seeing the enamel and the bite. A no-prep line is not a promise for every mouth.

A veneer is a shell on one tooth or a few. A Hollywood smile usually means the front teeth that show together, so one tooth does not turn lighter than its neighbors. The exam sets the number, not the service name.

The shade is compared with your skin under clinic light, then checked in daylight when that is possible. A very white shade can look harsh when you talk. You see the shells at the try-in before permanent bonding.
